Untamed Horse Tack is a used, consignment and new horse tack shop in Leduc, Alberta. We run our store and this website, untamedhorsetack.com, including our online shop, consignment program, newsletter, tack sale events, saddle fitting referrals and all related content, features and services (the "Services"). Our online store is powered by Shopify.

We know you trust us with your information when you shop, consign or reach out, and we take that seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with when you visit our shop or website, buy from us, consign with us, or contact us. If anything in our Terms of Service conflicts with this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls when it comes to your personal information.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information We Collect

"Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include anonymous or de-identified information. Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details – your name, mailing, billing and shipping addresses, phone number and email address.

  • Account information – your username, password, saved addresses, wishlist, preferences and settings.
  • Shopping information – items you view, add to your cart or wishlist, buy, return, exchange or cancel, whether you chose shipping or local pickup in Leduc, and your order history.
  • Consignor information – if you consign with us: your contact details, a description of the items you bring in, pricing and sales records, and the payout information you choose to give us so we can pay you when your items sell.
  • Communications – what you send us by email, phone, text, social media or in person, such as questions, tack requests or customer support inquiries.
  • Newsletter preferences – your email address and subscription status if you sign up for our Weekly Tack Treasures update.
  • Device and usage information – your device, browser, IP address and similar identifiers, and how you move around and use our website.

Where We Get Your Information

  • From you – when you shop with us in store or online, create an account, consign items, sign up for our newsletter, visit us at a tack sale, or contact us.
  • Automatically – from your device when you use our website, including through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From our service providers – such as Shopify, our payment processors, shipping carriers and the consignment software we use to track consigned items and payouts.
  • From partners and other third parties – for example, social media platforms when you interact with our pages.

How We Use Your Information

  • To run our shop and serve you – to process payments, fulfill and ship orders across Canada, arrange local pickup, manage your account and wishlist, and recommend tack you may like.
  • To manage consignments – to intake, price, tag and list your items in store and online, track sales, and pay you when your items sell.
  • To stay in touch – to answer questions, help you find the right gear, and send updates about your orders or consignments.
  • For marketing – to send our Weekly Tack Treasures update and other promotions (such as sales, new arrivals and upcoming tack sales) by email, text or mail, and to show you ads online, including ads based on what you have browsed or bought. You can opt out at any time (see "Your Rights and Choices").
  • For security and fraud prevention – to protect your account, keep payments secure, and detect and prevent fraud or misuse. If you create an account, please keep your login details private.
  • For legal reasons – to meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our policies.

Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our business, including:

  • Service providers – Shopify and the companies that help us with payment processing, shipping, consignment tracking, email marketing, analytics, IT and cloud storage.
  • Marketing partners – to deliver ads and marketing. For example, Shopify supports personalized advertising with third-party services based on your activity across merchants and websites. These partners use your information under their own privacy notices. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us not to share your information for targeted advertising.
  • People and services you ask us to share with – for example, shipping carriers delivering your order, social media logins or widgets you choose to use, or our saddle fitting partner if you ask us to connect you for a fitting.
  • In a business transaction – if our business is sold, merged or restructured, or as required by law (such as a subpoena or warrant), to enforce our policies, or to protect our rights, our customers or others.

Our Relationship with Shopify

Our online store is hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit may be shared with Shopify and third parties that may be located outside of Canada. To help protect and grow our business, we also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on your interactions with our store, other merchants and Shopify. In those cases, Shopify is responsible for that processing, including responding to requests to exercise your rights. To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. Depending on where you live, you can exercise certain rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Third-Party Websites and Social Media

Our website may link to other sites, such as our Facebook page, Google reviews or partner businesses. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of sites we do not control, so please review their policies. Anything you post publicly, such as reviews, comments or customer photos on social media, may be seen by others.

Children's Information

Our Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority where they live. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. We do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" (as defined by applicable law) personal information of anyone under 16.

Security and Retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure, and information sent to us online may not be secure in transit. Please do not send sensitive information, such as full card numbers, by email, text or social media message.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it, for example to maintain your account, complete orders, manage consignments and payouts, meet tax and record-keeping requirements, resolve disputes, or enforce our policies.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, including under Canadian and Alberta privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Receive a copy of your information and ask us to transfer it, in certain circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent or opt out of marketing. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. If you opt out, we will still send messages about your orders, account or consignments.

These rights are not absolute, and in some cases we may decline a request as permitted by law. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and you may use an authorized agent if you provide proof that they are acting for you. We will respond within the time required by law, and we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. For information processed by Shopify, visit privacy.shopify.com.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can make it right. Depending on where you live, you may also appeal our decision or file a complaint with your local privacy or data protection authority.

International Transfers

Your personal information may be stored and processed outside of Canada, including in the United States, by Shopify and our other service providers. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the destination country is recognized as providing adequate protection.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will post the new version on this page, update the "Last updated" date, and give any notice required by law.
